The second Lady Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur has called on Ghanaians, particularly Christians, to help stop stigmatizing people living with HIV and other similar diseases. Rather, she said, it is imperative for people to become ambassadors by educating people in society about people living with HIV. She made the statement on Friday when she addressed people living with HIV, orphans and other vulnerable children in society, which was organized by Matthew 25, a Koforidua-based non-governmental organization. Mrs. Amissah-Arthur called for deeper collaboration between such organizations and society to facilitate outreach programs and educate others to help fight the HIV pandemic. She congratulated Monsignor Alex Bobby Benson, director of the Matthew 25 House and his people for the good work they were doing in that area. Mrs. Amissah-Arthur later made a donation of assorted items including blankets, cups, buckets, bags of rice and some Christmas gifts to the people in the house. Monsignor Alex Bobby Benson thanked the second lady for her kind gesture by coming there personally after they had approached her.
