Five GNFS Officials Suspended

Five senior officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have been suspended for their involvement in the importation of the controversial camouflage uniforms for GNFS. The five: Divisional Officers (DO II) Rosemary Brobey, Juliana Quaye, Felix Acquaye, Stephen Pobee and Emmanuel Jiage, all constituted the Acceptance Board of the GNFS that certified and took stock of the bales of camouflage uniforms. Speaking to Kwami Sefa-Kayi, on Peace FMs morning show Kokrokoo, Chairman of the GNFS, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho disclosed that the suspension was not illegal but in line with the GNFS code of conduct. According to him, even though the five stated that they had inspected the uniforms, investigations from the Arhin Mensahs Committee of Enquiry (set to investigate the issue), proved that they (Acceptance Board) failed to inspect the uniforms. He condemned the conduct of the five senior fire officials and indicated that they will soon be arraigned before a service tribunal. Meanwhile, Alhaji Sorogho has asked media houses and groups who are insisting that the uniforms were full of condoms to refrain from it. According to him, investigations have proven that the uniforms did not contain condoms. None of the uniforms were with condoms and so the newspapers who published that should render an apology and retract that publication. We have done several investigations and so it is surprising they are still insisting on the condom story Not a single uniform had any condoms. he indicated.
