Corruption index Not A True Reflection in Ghana - Govt

The Government of Ghana has reacted to the latest corruption index saying the report might not have included measures being put in place by government to fight corruption. Ghana was ranked 63 out of 177 countries surveyed in this years global corruption perception index by Transparency International. Ghana scored 1 point better than the previous year inching to 46 from 45. But like last year, Ghana again performed below six African countries. . Transparency internationals local chapter, Ghana Integrity Initiative says no reasons can be given for Ghanas latest score but said recent corruption issues involving GYEEDA, SADA, SUBAH and the GRA mean the country has more to do to fight corruption. However, addressing the media at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said any recent poll which doesnt give Ghana a high score in the fight against corruption, may have missed recent developments in the country. it stands to reason that it is not a poll that would have been conducted recently and therefore may not have factored in some of the measures that we have just spoken about.
