Odikes Trouble Worsens

THE DECISION by the embattled former Presidential Candidate of the United Front Party (UFP), Mr. Akwasi Addai, aka Odike, to publicly invoke curses on the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive and the Chief of Asokwa, could have serious repercussions on his political career. Even before traditional rulers in the Asanteman Council sit to decide his fate over the abominable act, reports available to The Chronicle indicate that his own party is equally not treating the matter lightly. The paper has gathered that the National Executive of the party is set to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the way forward for the party and conspicuous on the agenda will be the embarrassing behavior of its former Presidential Candidate. The National Chairman of the party, Nana Agyenim Boateng, aka Gyataba, told the paper in an exclusive interview that the party is worried about the whole saga, which has in recent times dominated media discussion. Nana Agyenim Boateng said the partys image had seriously been dented by the act of the former candidate. According to him, the fact that Odike continues to carry himself out as a former Presidential Candidate of the party, even in the midst of the embarrassment is a major concern for the NEC and that it is against this backdrop that the party has decided to convey the meeting. He revealed that amongst the issues to be decided at the meeting, which is scheduled to take place over the weekend, would be to either suspend the former flagbearer or issue a strongly worded statement, declaring the position of the party in the controversy. Nana Agyenim Boateng was of the view that the UFP is a serious political organization and will not entertain any act that could bring its very existence into disrepute, much more coming from its former flagbearer.
