Parliament Condemns K.T Hammonds Outburst

The leadership of Parliament has condemned the verbal attacks on Majority Leader, Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor by the MP for Adansi-Asokwa, K.T Hammond. The former Deputy Energy Minister launched into a tirade on Wednesday on the floor of Parliament after remarks by Dr. Kunbuor he felt were targeted at him. Speaking to Citi News, Deputy Majority Leader, Alfred Kwame Agbesi said the actions of K.T Hammond were unparliamentary. It was clear, very clear that the conduct was very bad and nobody would have allowed such a conduct in the House of Parliament. The Speaker, wanting to be the father that he isif he had used his authority, there is no doubt that the Speaker would have walked K.T Hammond out of the House. The behavior of K.T Hammond is very, very, bad. Meanwhile, the Director of the Parliamentary centre, Dr. Rashid Draman has attributed the outburst by KT Hammond in Parliament to the overly partisan approach to issues being adopted by members of the House. What we are witnessing is that each side is digging in and each side is adopting a very, very partisan approach and these are people that have been elected to serve us Ghanaians and whatever it is, certainly we have to find a way to work together. Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Dr. Rashid Draman advised that Parliamentarians must put aside their partisan interest and work together for the good of the country. At the end of the day, the ordinary Ghanaian don't care about whatever politics divides them. What the Ghanaian is looking for is to be able to have access to education, access to healthcare and so onbut the kind of division, the kind of fights we are seeing doesnt create room for them to sit down to together and work together to solve our problems.
