Prez Kufuor: Black Stars In A Tough Group, But

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on football pundits and fanatics to put away the fear after the FIFA World Cup draw was made which pitted Ghana against some top quality European Footballing nations in Group G. Though many have described Ghanas Group as the group of death, Mr. Kufour believes with determination from the players, Ghana will just not be mere partakers of the 2014 World Cup but real contenders. We (Ghanaians) need to have faithif not then we should quit. Our opponents in the draw (FIFA World Cup Draw) are daunting but I know we are capable. If we (Ghana) were not ready, we wouldnt have qualified to that stage he said. The 2014 FIFA World Cup draw, held at Costa do Sauipe in Bahia, Brazil last Friday appears to have given Africa some tough opposition. Ghana was drawn against Germany in Group G alongside Portugal and the United States in the first round of next years World Cup. It will be another group meeting between Ghana and the Germans after both teams were paired in the same group at the South Africa 2010 World Cup. With the exception of Portugal, Ghana, Germany and the U.S were all in the same group at the previous tournament. The Black Stars will also meet comrade opponents, the United States of America (USA), who have lost two World Cup games against Ghana in Germany and South Africa respectively. Speaking on OKAY FM, Ex-President Kufour who is also a football enthusiast prayed that Ghanaians will whole heartedly support the Black Stars when the competition begins in June 2014. We should all support our boys (Black Star players) with prayers and I strongly believe that they (Black Stars) will make an impactI strongly believe that he noted.
