Weve Had Enough Of His Insulting BehaviourExpel K.T Hammond From Parliament

Following his unparliamentary outburst in the August House last week, it is the hope of many that Adansi Asokwa Member of Parliament (MP) and Former Deputy Minister of Energy in the erstwhile Kufour administration, Hon. K.T Hammond will be dragged before the Privileges Committee for punishment. But, a member of the NDCs communication machinery, Gabby Assumeng, is calling for the total dismissal of the NPP MP for his conduct. A fiery scene was enacted in Parliament when the Majority Leader, Benjamin Kunbuor in championing an anti-corruption crusade by politicians, mentioned the Woyome and oil drill ship saga. He opined that the Woyome case and the Drill Ship saga have heightened the perception that Ghanaian politicians are corrupt. But a fuming K. T Hammond, who spearheaded the sale of the Drill Ship, labeled his colleague, who he later described as a very good friend, as foolish, Stupid, Nonsense and useless for referring to the issue of the Drill Ship as one of the cases that has amplified the slant that politicians are corrupt. Though Hon. K.T. Hammond later apologized for his unruly behavior in the august House, Gabby Assumeng in his submission on Ghana Decides program on Okay Fm, opines the best option to end this disparaging behavior of the Member of Parliament, is to show him the exit after facing the Privileges Committee. According to him, the NPP MP has gained notoriety for heaping abuse on others and alluded to an incident in 2010 where K.T Hammond allegedly rained insults on Dr. Oteng Agyei who was then the Minister of Energy after the sector Minister had finished responding to issues pertaining to the Energy Ministry in Parliament. He further referred to another incident involving the NPP MP and a Former Director-General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Mr. Ampem Darko in the lobby of the House. .K.T Hammond is not a stranger in this country when it comes to politics and those who know him are also aware of his character trait in politics..Majority Leader, Dr. Kunbuor and Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Doe Adjaho are not the starters of his insolence behavior, he hinted. To the NDC activist, there was logic in the Majority Leaders citing of both the drill ship and Woyome saga as examples as he leads the course in championing an anti-corruption crusade by politicians. .my message is simple and that is, K.T Hammond should be expelled from Parliament; he does not deserve to be in Parliament because he has lost the privilege to stay in the House..he has no moral to stay in Parliament. Parliament must punish him in order not to lose respect of Ghanaians as a bias institution which covers the wrongdoings of its members while others are dragged before the Privileges Committee. He must be expelled to serve as a deterrent, he opined.
