The mystery surrounding the founding members of the Miracle People Party (MPP), the latest political party, is far from over. Months after its purported emergence on the political scene in the country, attempts to trace the founding members of the new party have proved futile. Nana Bafour Acheampong, Communications Director of MPP told DAILY GUIDE in an interview yesterday that the current leadership of the NPP, who have publicly dissociated themselves from the party, have links to it. He said the formation of the MPP was conceived at a May 25 2012 meeting at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi, where 12 stalwarts of the New Patriotic Party converged. Bafour Acheampong insisted that the MPP is a splinter group of the opposition NPP, claiming those vying for positions in the NPP would join the MPP if do not get the nod in the impending national delegates� conference. �You mark it somewhere, after the NPP congress, you will know the leaders behind this party,� he said, alleging that the National Executive Committee (NEC), particularly Kwadwo Owusu-Afiriyie, General Secretary of the NPP, had hijacked the party. According to Bafour Acheampong, successive leaders of the party, after former President J.A Kufuor, have become autocratic, insisting that they had assumed a domineering posture in the party. Perry Okudzeto, acting Communications Director of the party, in an interview with Daily Guide yesterday, said claims that some bigwigs of the NPP had formed a new party were laughable. He categorically denied reports that stalwarts of NPP were behind the formation of the latest party. Earlier, Captain Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey (Rtd), who is vying for the General Secretary position of the NPP and associated with the formation of the MPP, dismissed the possibility of members of the party forming a rival political party. He said it was not in the interest of any member of the NPP to disintegrate the party. It would be recalled that posters of a yet-to-be registered Miracle People Party (MPP) recently prop up in some parts of Accra. The MPP, with a motto, �Justice and Development� is also said to have been formed to capture power in 2016. The party, which has a crab as its logo with the same colours like that of the NPP, was said to have one Joseph Kwaku Apraku as its National Coordinator. Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy, Felix Owusu-Adjapong, former Majority Leader, Nkrabea Effah Dartey, Richmond Sam-Quarm, Dr. Henrietta Abane, NPP parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast North, Michael Arthur-Dadzie and Christine Churcher, former MP for Cape Coast were reported to be leading members of the new MPP. Others were Anthony Osei Boakye, Osei Asibey, Kofi Opoku-Adusei, and former MP for Bekwai, Hilda Addo, former MP for Kwadaso, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, immediate-past MP for Bantama, Peter Mac Manu, former National Chairman, Samuel Abu Jinapor and other leading TESCON members. Most of the people have denied links with the so-called new party.
