Odike Refuses To Hand Over Party Vehicle

The battle between the now suspended former presidential candidate of the United Front Party (UFP) and executives of the party is set to assume a scary dimension, as the embattled ex-presidential candidate has called the bluff of the partys National Executive Committee (NEC) over orders to hand over party campaign vehicles. Mr. Akwasi Addai, aka Odike, is proving he would not go down easily, as he has refused to obey by the National Committee of the party, instructing him to surrender all party properties at his disposal to the Director of Operations of the party in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua. The former presidential candidate has been suspended by the National Executive Committee of the party, after he was embroiled in a recent Antoa controversy, following the invocation of the dreaded river deity against the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kojo Bonsu, and the Chief of Asokwa, Nana Ofe-Baamoah II, in a land dispute. The party, on Saturday, issued a statement announcing the suspension of the former presidential candidate, and ordered him to hand over all party properties in his possession. However, the Kumasi-based business tycoon has called a bluff, daring the party to make any moves at retrieving the belongings, particularly the campaign pick up, from him. But, the National Chairman of the party, Nana Agyenim Boateng, aka Gyataba, has hinted The Chronicle that the party would do everything legally possible to claim the vehicle, which, he said, was purchased with party funds. He said, as a first step, the NEC would petition the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and bring the action of the former presidential candidate to the attention of the security agency, in order to forestall any unforeseen circumstances. We have resolved to petition the police and formally bring to their notice we can use any means to get the vehicle, but as a party that knows the rules and regulations, we prefer to use the right channel to deal with this case, Nana Boateng noted.
