EDAIF Presents Tractor In Support Of Farmers Day

The Export Development and Agricultural Investment fund (EDAIF) has presented a tractor with it accessories valued at GHC-142,500.00 to the Ministry of Food and Agricultural in support of this year�s Farmers Day Celebration. The tractor with it accessories will be awarded to the 2nd National Best Farmer. This is the fourth time EDAIF is supporting the farming community in the country to strengthen their capacity to meet the global standard of farming. EDAIF has disbursed GHC135, 778,796.85 over the years to support the agricultural sector. Making the Presentation the Agricultural Manager of EDAIF Abdul-Baaki Kadri noted that farmers play a very important role in the socio economic development of this nation therefore its essential to recognize their work. He said EDAIF as a corporate Institution and a key partner in the Agricultural sector will continue to support farmers in the country to boost their effort in learning new and modernized way of farming. Mr.Kadri encouraged farmers in the agricultural and agro processing sector to access the EDAIF credit facility through Designated Financial Institutions across the country. He said the Credit Facility of EDAIF established by Act 582 on the 4th October 2000 is to provide financial resources for the development and promotion of the export trade of Ghana. The EDAIF Credit Facility was amended to include the provision of financial resources for the development and promotion of agriculture relating to agro-processing and agro-processing industry and therefore farmers in the agro-processing sector can access that fund. He further stressed that the theme for the 29th edition of the National Farmers Day Celebration �Reducing Post-Harvest Losses for sustainable food security and Nutrition �is very timely as it will enable professionals in the industry to address the issue of post-harvest losses of staple foods particularly grains and cassava. This year�s farmer�s day event will be held on December 6, at Sogakope in the South Tongu District in the Volta Region.
