The popular Akan Proverb that says: If the Royal does not fight the slave retreats, came into play last Saturday when the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kojo Bonsu, took active part in a clean-up exercise as part of activities to mark this years Farmers Day Celebration. The City Mayor took an active part in a major clean up exercise organized by his Fan Club Movement, to rid parts of the city of filth. The MCE personally desilted gutters and pushed a wheelbarrow containing debris, ignoring requests to be assisted by members of the Movement. The Movement undertook the clean up around the Asafo Market and Dunkirk, which lasted for almost two hours. Mr. Kojo Bonsu, in a short address, commended members of the Movement for organizing the clean-up exercise to help clean the metropolis. He noted that waste management continues to be one of the major challenges facing city authorities, as lots of funds are committed periodically by the assembly towards combating filth and ensuring proper sanitation in the metropolis.
