Nana Addos Competence Must Be Examined - Arthur Kennedy

A former flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Arthur Kennedy says members of the party have the right to examine and question the competence of Nana Akufo-Addo or any other person intending to vie for the flag bearer slot for the party if the need arises. I think Nana Akufo-Addo like every other party member has the right to contest but other people have the right to point out whether he has deficiencies. I think that those who are voting have the responsibility to examine whether indeed he is a liability in terms of floating voters. They should also examine all the other candidates, but we should do that in appositive way. Speaking to Citi News, Dr Arthur Kennedy also asked the NPP to carry out an extensive analysis on why the party lost elections rather than concentrating on the person who will take up the flagbearer slot for the party. My concern is that we have gotten to the issue of flagbearership so early. I think we need to do analysis about why we lost. Whether it was due partly or wholly to the flagbearer, whether it was due to our communication strategy, whether it was due to divisions. According to him, the quest for power in the party was setting party members apart and turning their attention away from the partys main vision. I think there are more important things that we are ignoring. I think that our desire to set apart one another is taking us away from being the voice of the party and articulating their concern. When we are a good opposition party, we will get more votes, he emphasized.
