Korle-Bu, Police In Cover Up Over Death At Blowplast (1)

Am off to work and will see you tomorrow, were the last words the late Foster Sarpene said to his mother on 4th September, 2011 before leaving for his night shift at Blowplast group of companies on the Graphic Road. The 21-year-old man, unfortunately, met his untimely death while working on an extruder machine used for molding plastics. It has been over two years now, and yet the family does not know what actually killed their beloved son. Though officials of Blowplast Company limited insist he was not electrocuted, actions by the company, the police, doctors and mortuary attendants show that there is clear agenda to cover up. Though a coroner case, the police and Korle-Bu Hospital officials have refused to release the autopsy report to the family to establish the cause of death. Several efforts by the family of Foster Sarpene for a copy of the coroners inquest to know what caused the death of the boy have proven futile, because the Kaneshie police and the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital have refused to present a copy of the report to their family. The pain and frustrations compelled the family to bury the deceased on 5th November 2011 without knowing the actual cause of his death. The family claimed their son was in good health before leaving for work that fateful day, hence the need to establish what killed him and put to rest questions raised. A fact finding mission embarked upon by this paper suggests that neither the Kaneshie Police nor the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is interested in the case or are intentionally hiding the report from the family of the deceased. Madam Rosemary, the detective in charge of the case at the Kaneshie Police Station, always sings the same chorus that she has been to the hospital on countless occasions for the report but has not received it to be handed over to the family. What one cannot fathom is why the police cannot use their power to demand for the immediate release of the autopsy report since it has been so long. The investigator in charge of the case has not shown any seriousness in discharging her professional duty to help the family have the report. This assertion about the inspector stems from the fact that when the paper contacted Dr. DL Adusie who performed the post mortem, he insisted that it is the responsibility of the police to request for the report and refused to further comment on the issue. The family of the deceased described the situation as unfortunate and is suspecting criminality in the death of their son between the police, the doctor and the company, The Daily Democrat investigations reveal that the post mortem was performed on the deceased under unusual circumstance when the presence of the family members and that of the police was denied during the autopsy. What the paper finds strange is that if a post mortem has been performed on the deceased, then why has it not been presented to the family two years after his death? It is also mind boggling as to who is telling the truth between Miss Rose, the CID officer and Dr. Adusie. Or could it be that Blowplast Company Limited has successfully influenced the police and the Doctor to shield the truth from the family? This paper will follow the case and unravel the truth surrounding the death of young Foster Sarpene. All actions and behaviours of institutions involved in this case depict lies and cover ups. The soul of Foster is seeking the truth.
