Former Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South, Nana Akomea says President John Mahama must be grateful to Ghanaians for being sympathetic to his incompetent government. He said no citizen in any country will sit aloof and watch his taxes being doled out to cronies under the guise of judgement debt. Nana Akomea was reacting to President Mahama�s call on Ghanaians to show appreciation for the progress made by government. Speaking at the inauguration of the new church of the Revival Restoration Centre of the Assemblies of God Church in Accra over the weekend, the president bemoaned how Ghanaians easily forget about the achievements made by his administration and rather focus on the problems. President Mahama said despite the many challenges facing government, it has made giant strides in various sectors of the economy especially on energy. He cited government's ability to end the erratic power supply in the country as one such achievements. But on Asempa FM�s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Nana Akomea described as unfortunate the president�s description of Ghanaians as �ungrateful people�. According to him, but for the sympathetic and peace loving nature of Ghanaians, the country would have been in turmoil. Nana Akomea noted that in spite of the unbearable hardships coupled with gargantuan corruption in the country, Ghanaians are restrained in their actions and still accord the needed respect to President Mahama. So for him to be �insinuating that Ghanaians are unappreciative of government�s effort is a slap on the face,� Akomea added. The former Okaikoi South MP said Ghanaians reserve the right to complain about their socio-economic conditions due to what he says is the pervasive and pathetic corruption in the country. Nana Akomea said he is not surprised about President Mahama's actions because he [Mahama] is intolerant and has lost touch with the people.
