FDA And Tobinco Must Exercise Restraints

The NDC Progressives Coalition (NPC) is a group of committed NDC members from diverse backgrounds whose objective it is, to help the NDC government deliver the Better Ghana Agenda to the good people of Ghana and to ensure that, the NDC wins the next election in 2016. To this end, we have observed with a great deal of concern, happenings in recent times between the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and Tobinco Pharmaceuticals. It is regrettable to note that, the protracted misunderstanding between the food and drugs regulator and Tobinco has had somewhat unpleasant consequences for both FDA and Tobinco and most especially the NDC government. As men and women on the ground, it is our observation that, this standoff is beginning to hurt governments popularity badly. And we do not wish to see this trend snowball. It is in this respect that, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to all and sundry who at one point or the other, intervened to have this issue resolved. We also wish to specially applaud the Parliamentary Select Committee on Healths prompt and timely response to the impasse. We therefore want to appeal in the strongest terms possible, to the Food and Drugs Authority and Tobinco Pharmaceuticals to exercise restraint and allow the Parliamentary Select Committees intervention to yield positive results. We also humbly appeal to FDA, to soften their hands a bit as they appear on the negotiation table bearing in mind the fact that, the essence of regulation is to ensure compliance and not collapse of businesses as is the unfortunate perception in the public eye relative to this matter. In making these appeals for magnanimity, we cannot but also urge on Tobinco to assume flexible, respectful and cooperative posture for the expeditious resolution of this matter. Only then can progress be made. Finally, we want to also appeal to the President and leaders of our party to kindly add their voices to the many that have already spoken on this issue, with a view to ending this unfortunate misunderstanding that has affected all shareholders involved-most especially the NDC government. It is our hope that, this matter will soon be resolved with the support, cooperation and kindness of all stakeholders. We have a great country, the NDC government is determined to make it greater!!
