Wife of Asantehene gives to orphans

The wife of the Asantehene, Lady Julia Osei-Tutu, has presented gifts valued at about GH13,170.00 in support of two orphanages in Kumasi. The orphanages are All Nations Charity Home at Ayigya and the Save Our Souls (SOS) Childrens Village, Asokore-Mampong. The items donated include bags of rice, maize, boxes of noodles, edible oil, Milo, instant cocoa powder and fruit drinks. She also feted the children with meals and gave chocolates, candies and Christmas souvenirs; watches and sunglasses. Lady Julia, accompanied by the Asokore-Mamponghene, Nana Boakye Ansah Debra, said this was to help put smiles on the faces of the children during the Christmas festivities. She would make similar donations to the Central Destitute Infirmary in Asante-Bekwai and the Save Our Lives at Anhwiankwanta in the Bekwai Municipality on Thursday. The visit to the orphanages, she said, was also to help gain useful insights into the challenges they faced and the kind of support she could provide to make things better. Lady Julia praised the workers for their selfless service to humanity and encouraged them to continue to work with passion to give comfort to the less fortunate children. She counseled the children to be disciplined, respectful and obedient. The Reverend Kofi Adu, Board Chairman of the All Nations Charity Home, said they were grateful for the gesture and pleaded for support towards the completion of a girls dormitory project they had started. The payment of school fees and health insurance premium of the children were the other areas they needed some support.
