MP Donates 4 Ambulances

FOUR HEALTH facilities in the Afigya-Sekyere East constituency in the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region, have received an ambulance each to improve healthcare delivery in the region on last Friday. The ambulances were donated by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Henric David Yeboah to offer immediate medical relief to patients, including accident victims in the district. The beneficiaries were the Domeabra Maternity Clinic, Salvation Army Health Centre at Wiamoase, Boaman Health Centre and Kona Health Centre. They are expected to refer seriously-ill patients as well as accident victims as quickly as possible to the districts hospital at Agona or the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, the MP observed. According to him, the donation, which was funded through his share of the common fund, would help save lives that could otherwise be lost as a result of delay in transferring such patients and accident victims to health facilities to receive prompt medical attention. Hon Yeboah called on the beneficiaries to put the ambulances into good use. Dr Kofi Nti, Medical Superintendent of Agona Government Hospital, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiary health centres, expressed joy for the ambulances, describing them as Christmas gifts. The medical officer said the ambulances had come to give relief to people who travel long distances to access healthcare, especially women in labour, at the various health centres. Ambulances are vital to the healthcare system in the district as many travel long distances to access healthcare, he stressed. He lauded the efforts of the MP, particularly those geared towards health, and appealed to him to assist the Agona Government Hospital to furnish the childrens ward at the facility. The MP also gave a cash of GH4,000 to five junior and senior high schools in the district, including Konadu Yiadom SHS and Agona Secondary Technical School, for their infrastructure expansions.
