Transparency Level Under Prez Mahamas Regime Surpasses That Of Successive Govts

A member of the Governments Communication machinery, Bernard Anim Piesie, has debunked claims by former President Jerry John Rawlings that corruption is growing wings under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama. He was commenting on former President Rawlings accusation that ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor monopolized corruption in his administration to the extent that the United States of America had to send into the country the CIA to warn of its implication. The NDC activist said on Ghana Decides program on Okay Fm that the surest way to deal with corruption in the country is transparency in all government activities and to this extent; the Mahama-led administration has towed the right line in dealing with the canker. ..we have improved in terms of transparency compared to other past regimes because there were moments where access to information was difficult but today it is very easy. The President has given code of ethics to all his appointees and they have no option but to follow the standing orders under his regime or else he shows you the exit; this is a sure way to deal with corruption, he asserted. He added that with the setting up of the Judgment Debt Commission, the Sole Commissioner will bring to the limelight, the root cause of some dubious judgment debts which have existed over the years in the past regimes. According to him, fighting corruption in the country should not be lip service and blame game as it has been seen going on over the years but rather there must be pragmatic measures to ensure its total eradication in the country. the constant bandying about of corruption which past leaders have been quick to accuse each other of without empirical evidence, is not only denting the image of the country, but rather a tool for foreign anti-corruption agencies to use against the nation, Anim-Piesie posited.
