Ghana Can Beat Any Team - Waris

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris believes the Black Stars stand a chance of winning the 2014 World Cup if they are able to replicate the form exhibited in the 6-1 demolishing of Egypt during the qualifiers. Ghana will be making its third successive appearance at next year's finals to be staged in Brazil. The Black Stars have been drawn in a tough group alongside Germany, Portugal and the USA. Many football pundits have predicted a tougher than ever World Cup campaign for the Ghana team this term due to the tough draw. But the Spartak Moscow striker says the Black Stars can beat any opponent at the World Cup - translating into gradual progression towards winning the title if the form shown in the 6-1 thrashing of Egypt during the qualifiers is replicated. 'People always say this and that but for me if we are on the right track and keep focused, like the way we played against Egypt - ready to fight and die for the nation - then I think we can beat any team in our group,' he told Ghanasoccernet.com. 'So we just have to work hard and hopefully we get the days in our favour. 'To win (the World Cup) you have to progress from the group stages and then if we are able to come out, then I think we have a chance.' Ghana will play its first game at next year's World Cup against USA on June 16 in Natal. The Black Stars will then face three time winners Germany four days later in Fortaleza before finishing off the group campaign against Portugal in Brasilia on June 24.
