Battle For NPP Gen Secretary Position: Kweku Baako Goes For Kwabena Agyepong...

Kwabena Agyepong, Former Press Secretary to Ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor has launched his campaign to unseat incumbent General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John. He described himself as a time tested and intergenerational leader in the NPP who can unite the party to win the 2016 elections. Sir John has also made his intentions clear of campaigning vigorously to retain his position as the chief scribe of the largest opposition political party in the country. According to him, he had performed his duties as the NPP General Secretary perfectly, therefore he would not have any problem winning and retaining his position. These two aspirants are sure to make the contest keener and hotter; one to retain and the other to unseat. Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, speaking to the issue has chosen Kwabena Agyepong over Sir John. Clearly the incumbent doesnt have my voteof course I am not a delegate and I am not even a member of the NPP but I sympathise with their course under the fourth republicbut I continue to be CPPIf I am to vote, I will vote for Kwabena against Sir John. Sir John is my friend but in recent times, I have difficulties with how he has conducted himself with certain issuesamong the rest I will still give it to Kwabena. If I am asked to do advocacy for the two, my advocacy wont go in the direction of the incumbent, he said on Peace FM Kokrokoo programme. Meanwhile, Dr. Omane Boamah, Minister of Communication took a different position. Speaking on the same platform, he said if the NPP were to go to congress today Sir John will be victorious, a statement which the seasoned journalist, Kweku Baako concurred with. If the NPP are to vote today 23rd December, Sir John will win. There is no way he will lose. If NPP will give us Sir John as the General Secretary and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey will be grateful he indicated.
