The Prosecutor said Sgt. Appiah Mireku alighted upon instruction from the Commander to inquire about the cause of the accident. Chief Inspector Akannah said that all of sudden, the accused persons jumped on Sgt. Appiah Mireku and started manhandling him so the Commander intervened. The prosecutor said one accused person slapped ASP Akonde after the other accomplice had head-butted him, resulting in a deep cut on his forehead. He said the accused persons attempted to escape following the incidence but with assistance from some good Samaritans they were arrested.
