Inspirational ex-Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, says he would wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to serve on the Black Stars� technical team if called upon to offer his expertise. However, he believes he will not accept any call-up as a player in the team, explaining that others paved the way for them and it is time for them to also pave the way for others, and does not think he would want to be part of the team. �In life, never say never because you never know what will happen tomorrow, but I have taken my decision. Some of the former players paved the way for us so it�s my turn to pave the way for the other ones who are coming, and I don�t think that you will see me in the team,� he said in an interview. Appiah, who captained the Black Stars to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, said players such as Rigobert Song and Nwanko Kanu were all assisting their countries in various ways and did not think it would be a bad idea to do same. His comment came in reaction to media reports suggesting that Coach Kwasi Appiah was considering introducing some former players, including him (Stephen Appiah, to assist in the technical works during the World Cup in Brazil. Appiah, who spoke to the Graphic Sports in an interview, said �when I read the story on the Internet, I was really happy, and that shows that during my days when I was doing my job, I took it seriously. And for someone to be recommending me at this stage, I think it�s a big thing for me.�� He said while the Europeans considered such things as very important, we attached little seriousness to them, adding that it was all for the good of the nation. While admitting that Ghana and Germany were the likely teams to emerge from the group, the former captain cautioned against the USA which, he said, would be the most difficult game. �That is the game I�m scared of because beating them on two occasions, they would come with a full force in this third game, but as far as I know my Black Stars, I know they will go through,�� Appiah noted.
