Mahamas New Year Message Offers No Hope

Deputy Minority Leader, Dominic Nitiwul says President John Mahamas New Year message offers no hope for Ghanaians in 2014. The president in his New Year message on 31st December, 2013, declared 2014 as the year of "many good things to happen" in Ghana and admonished all Ghanaians to "claim it." Conceding that 2013 was a difficult year, President Mahama noted he is "proud to lead Ghana into an era of prosperity and development." He therefore charged all Ghanaians to "think and work for Ghana" and to create a better bond with each other. But speaking on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Dominic Nitiwul described the presidents message as a clich. According to him, considering the socio-economic hardships Ghanaians have been plunged into by government, he expected President Mahama to proffer solutions and not to repeat the same old things. There is no hope in the presidents message; I expected him to tell us how he is going to fight corruption, solve the massive power crisis and unemployment in the country and not to repeat the same old things, he stated. Dominic Nitiwul also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Bimbila contended that the president lacks the will power to fight the unbridled corruption eating up the country like cancerous cells.
