Man Killed In Adenta Not A Land GuardPolice Must Apologise-MP

Member of Parliament (MP) for the Adentan constituency, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore has denied police report that the man who was shot during a demolishing exercise in his constituency Monday was a land-guard. One was killed and three arrested when a group of people tried to stop the police from embarking on a demolition exercise at Adenta. According to police investigations, the deceased as well as the three who were arrested were land guards in the area. According to the MP, ''the deceased is not a land guard; I know him personally in the Adenta area.'' It is a very sad and unfortunate situation. The police should come out and apologize to the bereaved family. I know the boy myself and I can say that he was not a land guard and so the police should stop making such accusation. Speaking on Peace FMs morning show Kokrokoo Hon Ashie Moore questioned why the police could not use other means to disarm their attackers. Even though DSP Freeman Tettey said in an interview that they they were attacked and had no option than to act in self-defence, Hon Ashie Moore said they could have shot other part of his (deceased) body other than the head. ''There could have used so many ways and tactics to disarm the suspects than shooting the person in the head...Is there no other way to respond to an attack unless we shoot to kill? Why werent a warning shot given or spraying tear gas? We are with the police service but I think they should admit that it was an error he added.
