Ernest Owusu Bempah, Deputy Communications Director of the National Democratic Party (NDP), has lashed out at media practitioners in the country for what, according to him, is a failure on their part to pose relevant questions to President John Dramani Mahama during his encounter with them at the Flagstaff House.
On Tuesday, January 7, President John Dramani Mahama held a public forum with senior journalists in the nation to mark his one year administration as Head of the fourth Republic of Ghana.
During the occasion, media practitioners were given the platform to table their concerns before the President who in turn assured Ghanaians of his government's achievements and aspirations.
Though the event was intended to give journalists the chance to ask questions on behalf of the nation, the NDP Firebrand believes they rather attended the function to hero-worship the President.
Speaking on Oman FM, Owusu Bempah averred that it appeared as if the journalists were gagged, since they failed to broach salient topics that would put President Mahama on his toes and ensure that he makes great strides in steering the affairs of the country this year.
According to him, President Mahama's administration is the most 'scandalous' government in the annals of Ghana's history books, and was disappointed that, to him, the senior journalists went to the Flagstaff House to indulge in praise-singing.
Addressing the issues raised during the forum, Owusu Bempah insisted on Oman FM that the President threw dust in the eyes of Ghanaians.
He therefore labeled the occasion as a "sad day for journalism in this country�I was disappointed in those who went there�It�s a disgrace to this country. This is public deception at the highest order and he (President Mahama) must be impeached.
�He�s been lying to the people of Ghana and getting away with it.�
