Aspiring NPP General Secretary Promises To Decentralize Party Activity

Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, the Aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said over centralization of party activity in Accra was counterproductive to the growth and fortunes of the party. He promised to ensure an effective decentralization of the party structures and resources to ensure every single member of the party despite his/her location feels part of the team if elected. I will not be an arm chair General Secretary but rather a practical one who will ensure effective decentralization of party structures, resources and funds in a manner that will make people feel part of the team and willing to work for the party to recapture power, Mr Agyepong said. Mr. Agyepong said this during an interaction with the media in Wa as part of his tour of the region to woo delegates to vote for him at the partys congress. The one time Press Secretary to former President John Agyekum Kufuor said he did not understand why somebody at Hamile should travel to Accra just for a party card when the person could have it at the Regional or constituency level. Mr. Agyepong identified the late release of resources for party campaigns during elections as one of the factors affecting the fortunes of the party. He promised to ensure timely release of resources so that the party could work and become more visible and attractive to the people, adding that this would make it easier for the party to effectively market itself at the heat of general election campaigns. The one-time NPP Presidential Aspirant who described himself as a true party man believed his message of rejuvenating the party by restoring the avowed principles of sacrifice, selflessness and service to the people was going down well with delegates, hence, the warm reception accorded him in all the regions and constituencies he visited.
