Effia-Nkwanta hospital becoming a den for robbers

The health staff and caregivers at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital are under constant threat and fear following activities of armed robbers. The state of insecurity at the regional health facility is so alarming to the extent that robbers are reported to inflicts blade wounds on their victims before snatching their belongings. The Ghana News Agency investigation revealed that night duty and night life at the hospital and its bungalows were that of fear. Ms. Angelina Sagoe, Principal Nursing Officer at the Hospital said some nurses had even been raped by these criminals. Ms. Sagoe, also a victim showed the GNA a scar on one of her arms purported to be one of such attacks and called on the regional directorate of health to support the staff with buses to convey them to and from work. Most of the health workers the GNA spoke to confirmed the situation and added they would soon hit the street, if nothing was done about the situation.
