The election of a new government in the Central African Republic will be supported by the international community according to the UN's top representative in the country.
More than four and a half million people have been forced to flee their homes following more than a year of internal conflict in the country.
On Friday, two interim leaders stepped down from the government after failing to halt the fighting.
UN Special Representative, Babacar Gaye, said the speedy election of a new leadership is crucial.
"The profile of the new head of state of the transition could help restore hope. And my hope is that the nomination of the Prime Minister and of the government will force this hope. The international community will then have to accompany this new team on the road to free credible and democratic elections."
Reports from the capital Bangui suggest that relative calm has returned to the streets.
One hundred thousand people had sought refuge at a temporary camp for displaced people at the city's airport.
