One of the four people contesting the Brong Ahafo Regional Chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kwadwo Yeboah-Fordjour, has called for unity and a campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks.
�At the end of the day, we all will come together on one platform to campaign for the 2016 election and bad statements made during campaigns for positions at the lower levels of the party will bounce back on us,� he said.
Mr Yeboah-Fordjour, a businessman, who was a former regional chairman of the party, told the Daily Graphic that victory for the party in the region held the key for the NPP to win the 2016 general election.
�From Dr Nkrumah�s era, political parties that won more seats in the Brong Ahafo Region eventually won the general election,� he said.
That, according to Mr Yeboah-Fordjour, called for people who had the ability to campaign in the rural areas to lead the party in the region.
�I have a track record as the then regional chairman who campaigned vigorously to enable the NPP to win the 2000 election in the Brong Ahafo Region,� he said and appealed to the electorate to give him another mandate to prove his ability.
He replied those who criticised him for having a relatively low education as compared to his opponents that he did not have to hold a degree to be the regional chairman of the party.
�When I won the election in the region in 2000, I did not have a PhD�, he said, adding that �no one is an illiterate.� At the end of the day, it is the end that will justify the means,� he said
Mr Yeboah-Fordjour expressed the hope that contestants who would lose the elections would use their experience to support victors to ensure victory for the party in the region in 2016.
