Appointing A New Person Will Not Solve Your Problem - Kwesi Pratt Tells Gov't

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr says the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will continue to have challenges with communication if they do not address individual habits and the lack of coordination. According to him, changing the heads of communication or appointing new people to communicate government affairs will do no good if these challenges were not addressed. Kwesi Pratt was speaking on the appointment of former BBC presenter, Ben Dotse Malor as Senior Communications Adviser and Head of Communications at the Presidency. Contributing to panel discussions on Kokrokoo, he said the problem with NDC communication is not because they have different structures; it is a failure of coordination; that is the real problem. Individual habits and character also come into play. Comparing the two main political parties; the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Pratt said whereas the NPP assigns communicators to the various radio and television stations, anybody can just get on radio or TV station and represent the NDC. Another (difference) is that the NPP by midnight knows all the headlines that will be in the newspapers the following morning but the NDC communicator comes to the radio station before reading and going through the newspapers; it is lack of preparation and that also contributes to the problem. I think it is very important they begin to look at their communication well and if Mr. Malor will help them then what will I say; its okay, no problemI just have my doubts, he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.
