He said the discussion resulted in an argument between the two and out of anger, Kwesi entered his room and came out wielding a knife and threatened to stab Ama if she does not leave the room immediately. Chief Inspector Anku said Kwesi tried to push Ama out of the room but she refused to leave, insisting that the issue must be resolved before she leaves, a struggle ensued between them and in the process Kwesi stabbed her in the stomach. He said Ama was immediately rushed to the Saltpond District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. A complain was lodged at the police station and Kwesi was arrested and charged with the offence.
