An Accra Circuit Court on Monday sentenced Farauk Abubakari, 22, and Sumail Yusif, driver, two years each for using narcotic drug without authority. The accused persons pleaded guilty with an explanation. Farauk told the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri that he mixed the Indian hemp with kontomire soup prepared by the wife to cure his asthma. �I sometimes eat the kontomire soup mixed with the Indian hemp with plain rice and banku,� he said. He said he had been using the narcotic drug for the past six months and whenever the soup finished he would ask the wife to prepare a new one. Assistant Superintendent of Police Cletus Abadamlora said accused persons resided at Mallam C.P, Kasoa and Amanfro respectively. He said on December 30, last year, the Anti-human Trafficking Unit with assistance from the Narcotic Unit proceeded to Kasoa based on intelligence reports received. He said the report indicated that a 16-year-old girl had been kidnapped and hiding in a house. The prosecution said two houses were searched and it was in one of the rooms that an aluminum tray containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis were found.
