Ghana Not Frustrated With Lack of Goals

Ghana coach Maxwell Konadu is reluctant to blame his side for recording a low goal count at the African Nations Championship, insisting that progressing is important than the statistics. The home-based national team have scored four-out-of-four and conceded just once at the tournament. Ghana's run to the semi-final has been done with the team not scoring more than one goal per game after Kwabena Adusei's strike from the spot sealed a 1-0 win over DR Congo. Of the four sides in the last-four, Ghana is in third place ahead of Zimbabwe on the statistics table for the number of goals scored with Nigeria and Libya in the lead. And together with Zimbabwe, they have conceded just once in four matches. "I think we don't plan to always come and score one goal but we plan our game according to the strength and weaknesses of our opponents," Konadu told www.ghanafa.org. For Konadu, maintaining his side's organization is key as he prepares them for a last-four clash on Wednesday with rivals, Nigeria, who have scored twelve times and conceded 8 goals. "But just in case it happens that we score one goal and we are able to defend well, that for me is a plus to our team because we know the strengths and weaknesses of our team. "We don't have to expose our boys to danger. We have to just protect our goal area as much as we can and if by doing so we end it up with one goal, that is okay that is football. It's all about what you can do in the 90 minutes," he said.
