World Renowned Chess Player To Visit Ghana

Garry Kasparov � a renowned world Chess player will arrive in Ghana today (Wednesday) to commence series of projects aimed at the development and promotion of Chess in Ghana. The 1985 World Chess Champion, who runs the Kasparov Chess Foundation, aimed at raising funds to help in the development of the sport in Africa will use the visit to announce sponsorship package for the Ghana Chess Federation (GCF). Kasparov, will as part of his activities in Ghana, visit selected schools to promote chess plus its usage in the study of mathematics and science, and also supervise series of tournaments. He will also provide training to national and junior national teams to improve their performance in the sports at international levels. Group captain George Arko Dadzie President of GCF, at a press briefing said the visit and partnership with the Kasparov Chess Foundation Africa will help his outfit to take the sport to the grass root. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Minister of Youth and Sports lauded the federation for their efforts in developing the game. He said, the initiative will help the federation to grow the sports.
