VEEP Underscores The Need To Ensure Growth Benefits For The People Through Standard Of Living

Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur has underscored the need to ensure that growth benefits the people through their standard of living. Speaking to Journalists at the sidelines of the International Forum on Investments in Abidjan, the Vice president reiterated oneness not just as a regional block but through shared aspirations and cultures. Vice President Amissah - Arthur also held discussions with a number of personalities including the Vice President of Nigeria and the Minister of Budget of Cote d’Ivoire on Ghana’s role and support in regional integration, economic development and empowerment of the people of the sub-region. Speakers from the various international financial institutions pledged their continuous support to the country which is still recovering from years of civil unrest. The World Bank, led by its Vice President for the African Region Makhtar Diop said the bank has injected over $1b into Cote d’Ivoire and is ready to increase their investments by an additional 50%. He encouraged regional governments to transform their growth to generate jobs and wealth and not be comfortable with growth rates. Vice President Amissah Arthur has since left for Addis Ababa to participate in the 22nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union to be held between Jan.
