Cedi Will Stabilise Soon - Gov't Assures

The Government has assured that it is working assiduously to stabilize the falling Ghana Cedi. The Bank of Ghana has already injected 20 million dollars in the Ghanaian economy to halt the sharp decline of the local currency to the US Dollar. Since the beginning of the year the Cedi has lost almost 4 percent in value to the US Dollar. Standard Bank, the parent bank of Stanbic Bank Ghana is predicting an end year depreciation of 15 percent. The Director of Financial Services at the Finance Ministry, Joseph Chognuru speaking on behalf of the Finance Minister at the opening of an investment conference organized by Stanbic Bank Ghana, said government is also committed to improving business opportunities and confidence in the economy. The Standard Bank West African Investors Conference will enable investors get first-hand information from listed companies on the Ghana Stock Exchange. 16 investors from Europe, America and Asia are attending the one-day conference.
