Brong Ahafo Minister Is Wicked Chief

The Chief of Kojo Boffour, near Yeji, Nana Dr. Agyare Baffour, has chided the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo, describing him as a heartless man who has no feelings for his people. According to the chief, the Regional Minister had shown no concern about the killings that took place in the Kojo Baffour community some three months ago. The October 2013 shooting incident during the national congress of the Nchumuru Youth Association at Yeji led to the death of two persons: Kofi Fofie, 32 and Kwadwo Jikibu, 45 and injured about 30 others, all residents of Kojo Boffour. The incident occurred when Kojo Baffour and his entourage were heading towards the event ground. The gunmen ambushed them and fired several shots at them in the process. The police arrested 11 people suspected to have been closely involved in the shooting and placed them in custody as they face trial at the Wenchi Magistrate Court. However, eight of them have been granted bail leaving only three in custody. Nana Dr Agyare Baffour told 'Daily Guide' that though he had personally gone to the office of the regional Minister and briefed him about the incident, Mr. Aidoo is yet to take a step to come to Kojo Boffour to acquaint himself with the situation and sympathize with the affected people and the bereaved families. The chief advised Mr. Aidoo to take a cue from his counterpart in the Central Region, Samuel Sarpong who displayed excellent leadership quality when a similar shooting incident happened recently at Esarkyir, and led REGSEC to visit the community shortly after the unfortunate incident to sympathize with the affected people. It is sad to note that nobody, including the Regional Minister, the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), the District Security Committee (DISEC), the Member of Parliament of the area, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, has been able to come and sympathize with the bereaved families since the incident happened. We see this as very unfortunate. The regional Minister should sit up. We are keeping our calm hopping that the law will take its course, lamented the Kojo Boffour chief. Nana Dr. Agyare Baffour pointed out that the actions and inaction's of the officials were putting the Yeji township on a time bomb. He accused the Yeji-hene, Pemampem Yaw Kagbrese, for allegedly playing a key role in the release of the suspects implicated in the shooting. He, therefore, appealed to the judiciary and the law enforcement agencies to be impartial in the discharge of their duties.
