Daylight Robbers Nabbed

A suspected armed robber was lynched while two others were arrested after they attacked a house at Alafia, near Fadama on Monday. Ayatu Ishmael, 18, and Hamza Ahmed, 23, are currently being held by the Kaneshie District Police Command. The body of the deceased, who has been identified as Kyei Samuel, 18, has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue pending autopsy. Two suspects, Buhari Ishmael, 16, JHS student, who is the brother of Hamza and one Rasta, managed to escape arrest. Briefing DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Fleance Adika, the Kaneshie District Police Commander, said the police received information that five suspected armed robbers had attacked a house at Alafia, near Fadama around 1pm. When the police got to the area, Kyei Samuel had already been lynched by an angry mob but the others managed to escape. Police intelligence led to the arrest of two suspects at their hideout at Fadama School area but Rasta and Buhari managed to escape. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects boarded a taxi from their Fadama School to Alafia to undertake the operation. When they got to the house, the owner of the house was not present but the suspects met three children of the victim playing on the compound. Two of the suspects went out of the house to keep guard, while three others grabbed the boys, tied their hands and legs and used super glue to seal their mouths to prevent them from shouting. They entered the room of the victim and took three bottles of Vodka liquor, two mobile phones, a dell laptop and three wrist watches. When they attempted to escape, one of the kids managed to free himself and sought assistance. Some neighbours, who came to their rescue, apprehended Kyei Samuel and lynched him. With the help of some residents, the police managed to arrest Ayatu and Hamza. Suspects would be arraigned before court today on charges of robbery while efforts are being made by the police to apprehend the other suspects.
