Aggrieved supporters of Asante Kotoko have called for the immediate dissolution of the Board of Directors of the club following the team's elimination from the CAF Champion League at the weekend. The Porcupine Warriors suffered a shocking 0-1 defeat at the hands of Liberia's Barack Young Controllers (BYC), enabling the latter to advance to the next stage of the competition on the away goal rule after the first leg ended 2-1 in favour of Kotoko. Many supporters have been quick to blame the team's failure on the Kotoko Board. Some of the supporters GNA Sports spoke with blamed the board for ineptitude. Desmond Gyimah of Circle 71, a supporters' wing of Kotoko questioned the commitment of the Board members towards the cause of the team; blaming them for failing to effectively plan their journey in the continental championship. He claimed " the players had a lukewarm attitude throughout the campaign because they were ill motivated and the board is responsible for not raising enough funds for our participation". Kwasi Ohemeng, a businessman, reminded the Board of their mandate insisting "the owner of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II underlined winning the Champions League as their first mandate. If they have failed to deliver, then they need not to be reminded to step aside" Akua Addae, a disgruntled supporter, on her part claimed "the unhealthy working relationship between the Board and Management is the cost we had to pay in Africa and that is unacceptable." Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of Kotoko, Solomon Ofosuware has urged all supporters to remain calm.
