Sir John Must Apologize

Appiah, a well-known member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Techiman South Constituency has called on the Chief Scribe of the party to come out and publicly apologize for the comparison he made between the Asantehene and Nana Akufo-Addo. According to him, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie stated in a meeting with delegates during his campaign tour of the Constituency that, the popularity of Nana Akufo-Addo, the Presidential Candidate of the NPP in the 2008 and 2012 general elections surpasses that of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Ex-President John Agyekum Kufour and Alan Kyeremateng. Appiah revealed on NEAT 100.9 FM that this needless linkage outraged many at the meeting who confronted and called on him to desist from making such insinuations in connection to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. In the recent past, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie who is also known as Sir John has made statements which party members have deemed divisive. Sir John was widely condemned for claiming he would push Nana Akufo-Addo around in a wheelchair to campaign for the Presidency even if he is indisposed, revealing his bias towards the two-time Presidential Candidate of the party. Many supporters of the NPP believe their General Secretary must be mindful of his utterances, since it had the potential to create serious problems in the party and according to Appiah, the comparison with other high profile personalities in Country and his party is uncalled for. He further called on the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP to call him to order before his unguided statements lands the party in trouble.
