High Court Orders Ex- Akaboha Not To Bury Mother At Royal Cemetery

An Agona Swedru High Court has restrained the burial of Prophetess Mathabinala Jehu-Appiah, mother of ex Akaboha of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) at the royal cemetery at Gomoa Mozano. The Court presided over by Justice Peter Odei Offei, further restrained the agents, servants, and privies of ex-Akabola, Prophet Miritiah Jonas Jehu-Appiah over reserved royal burial ground, saying that the royal ground was strictly reserved by the church to bury only the three co-founders of the church, as stipulated by Article Four of the Church's Constitution. On January 23, Reverend . S.P Abeequaye , Mr Kwabena Frempong and Elder S.P Ankrah, constituting the legal team of MDCC, filed a motion for an order of injunction at the Agona Swedru High Court to restrain Prophet Miritiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah, ex Akaboha, from further taking steps to bury his late mother, Prophetess Jehu-Appiah. The court ruled that the Akatitibi, Mathabinala Jehu-Appiah, can be buried at the public cemetery as mandated by the 1992 Constitution. It also ordered that the grave which was dug by the interested party be refilled as early possible, since it was against the public order of the Gomoa West District Assembly. The court, therefore, ordered that a copy of the judgment be served on the Inspector-General of Police, because the Police are not banned from performing their traditional functions of protecting life and property during the final funeral rites of the late Prophetess Mathabinala Jehu-Appiah.
