Four Perish In Motor Accident

Four passengers including the driver of a taxi cab with registration number WR 4076/11 died on the spot when the vehicle in which they travelling, collided with a tipper truck with registration number GN 107/12 at the Ambainu Junction in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region. The driver of the taxi cab, Mr Daniel Yankey, 35, a native of Edwakpole and the other three passengers have since been deposited at the Axim Government Hospital morgue for autopsy. Briefing the Ghana News Agency in a telephone chat, the Ellembelle District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) John Vordzorgbe said the accident occurred on February 23, 2014 around 12:30 hours. He said the man diesel truck belonging to the Eagle Star Company had loaded quarry stones from Bamiango en route to Elubo and upon reaching Ambainu Junction, it collided with the taxi cab. ASP Vordzorgbe further explained that there was a stationary vehicle on that spot and another KIA vehicle had also packed so when the man diesel truck followed up, there was no way the taxi cab could escape collision with the truck. The driver of the tipper truck, Mr Kwame Ofosuhene, 40, however survived the accident. Meanwhile, an irate mob had set the tipper truck ablaze. According to an eye witness, Mr Daniel Adiah-Kaku, the driver, Mr Ofosuhene would have been lynched by the mob if he had not bolted from the scene after the accident.
