Tony Baffoe Tips Asamoah Gyan To Be A Fantastic Skipper In Brazil

Ex-Black Stars skipper Anthony Baffoe says he expects Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan to rise to the ocassion in Brazil when he leads the Black Stars unto the pitch in his third consecutive World Cup. The former Dusseldolf defender claims he is aware that Asamoah Gyan will be nervous as the captain of the Black Stars at the Brazil 2014 tournament but believes the Al Ain striker can capitalize on his anxiety to lead the senior national team to make history at the mundial. Its a big stage. Its something very important. You are going to lead your team out of the tunnel on the pitch to the biggest event when it comes to football and especially also in Brazil and its something special. A player generally, if he goes on the pitch and he has no butterflies in his stomach, that means he is no more hungry and thats what he (Gyan) was talking about. Already when you are playing and leading the team, its a big responsibility and Insha Allah he will make it, Baffoe told Power 103.5FM. Gyan and his Black Stars team-mates have been charged by President John Mahama to ensure Ghana wins the trophy at the mundial but the Al Ain striker has admitted after the 2-1 loss to Egypt in Cairo last year that the thought of leading Ghana at the mundial puts him under pressure. The 28-year-old UAE based goal-poacher has led the Black Stars into 17 matches in all competitions since his appointment as the skipper of the team in October 2012.
