Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah went beserk as he reacted to allegations by sections of the media that he has neglected the other sporting disciplines by over concentrating on football, particularly the Black Stars. The minister is regarded by many as having dedicated most of his time and attention to only the senior national football team without any intent of helping to revive many of the dying sports disciplines. But in an interview with Montie FM, the minister insisted he would choose to pay much attention to the Black Stars if he is born ten times. "I took office at a time when our position on the league table was very dicey ok, and I had to take responsibility to ensure working together with the FA and other stakeholders to ensure that our qualification was beyond doubt ok". "We had to play Lesotho, Sudan away, we had to play that crucial match against Zambia and against Egypt and I had to play a critical role". "The World Cup cannot be postponed, the World Cup comes once every four years so if your a country looking at a game that attracts over 3.5 billion people, you will not joke with the World cup". "And am sure that some of those people who are talking now, if we had not qualified for the World Cup they would say I was the most useless minister so I have absolutely no regret to dedicating my time to the Black Stars and the World Cup in a world cup year without neglecting them". "Go round the world and see what other countries are doing to benefit from the world cup and you want us to sit down, if I'm born ten times the same commitment and passion I've shown to football and the World Cup I will do it".
