Delegation from one of the largest pharmaceutical research and development company based in USA, Johnson & Johnson, have visited Peace and Love Hospital to interact with one of Ghana�s leading breast cancer expert, Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai. The delegation led by the Vice President of Johnson & Johnson (J&J), Madam Sharon D�agnostino were warmly received by Dr. (Mrs.) Wiafe Addai and the staff of Peace and Love Hospital and Breast Care International (BCI). A mini durbar was organized for the visiting delegation and in attendance were members of Peace and Love Survivors Association (PALSA). The vice president for Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals, Madam Sharon D�agnostino told those gathered that they are in the country to interact with the Ghanaian institutions who have received funding from J & J. The Johnson & Johnson team will be visiting other facilities such as Kumasi South Hospital, Suntreso Government Hospital after their first visit to Peace and Love Hospital. The team will also pay a courtesy call on the Manhyia Palace and the city Mayor. Madam D�agnostino described their visit as successful and she looked forward to greater partnership with Peace And Love Hospital and Breast Care International to advance the oncology training for nurses in Ghana and the treatment of breast cancer. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Peace and Love Hospitals Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai, speaking during the mini durbar briefed the visiting team about the breast cancer situation in Ghana and the efforts the hospital and BCI are putting in place to address the burden of breast cancer. She mentioned the outreach programmes of BCI, which are used to educate women in rural and urban centers about breast cancer and also clinically screen them for any breast related diseases. Dr. Wiafe Addae also applauded Johnson & Johnson for their previous support towards the first oncology nursing training held in Ghana in the year 2010 and also their assistance in donating essential medicines to the needy but poor patient. They also supply to psychiatric patients. The delegation were impressed with the efforts of Peace and Love Hospitals and BCI in addressing the breast cancer situation in Ghana. The vice president of Johnson & Johnson pledged their support for Peace and Love Hospitals to continue oncology training programmes to equip nurses and other para-medics on essential knowledge on breast cancer.
