I Don't Want To Lose My Ministerial Position - Minister

Eastern regional Minister, Ms. Helen Adjoa Ntoso, has warned Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to make every effort to meet the 'Street Naming and Property Addressing Project' deadline because she doesn't want to lose her ministerial position. She cautioned the MMDCEs after she noticed that among the 26 assemblies in the region only few were making progress. That situation, she lamented, will be difficult for her to meet the president's eighteen-month directive. Ms. Ntoso was speaking at the Eastern Regional Coordination Council (ERCC) 2013 Annual Performance Review of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Koforidua. She reiterated that "though the president has given eighteen months, I want you to finish the exercise within fourteen months, adding that any assembly which fails to comply will face the consequences. She also advised the MMDCEs to consult all traditional rulers and opinion leaders to debate and present one permanent name for a street. Ms. Ntoso pledged her commitment to ensure that all the MMDAs arc well positioned to execute their plans and programs efficiently and effectively. For his part, Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Abdulai Zakari, said his outfit would continue to monitor all the assemblies in the region to ensure that they adhere to the minister's directive by finishing the exercise within the stipulated time. He also entreated the municipal and district assemblies to submit their annual action plans two weeks before review.
