Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso says he "expected" Atletico Madrid's physical approach in Sunday's 2-2 La Liga draw at the Vicente Calderon.
Carlo Ancelotti complained after the match that the home side made the derby a violent affair with their aggressive behaviour and Alonso has agreed with his coach that Atleti employed some rough tactics.
"The game was very rough, with lots of fouls, lots of complaints, but that's nothing new here. You have to take it in your stride," the experienced midfielder was quoted as saying by Marca.
