Kpong Water Works Maintenance Completed

Water supply to Eastern parts of Accra is expected to normalize by the close of day Monday following the completion of maintenance works at the Kpong Water Treatment Plant. The Kpong plant was shutdown on Thursday, February 27, 2013 to allow contractors undertake critical pipeline interconnections. Rehabilitation works are underway at the plant under the Kpong Intake and Accra, Tema Metropolitan Area Rural Rehabilitation and Expansion (ATMA) projects which is to ensure the production of an additional nine million gallons of water per day. The shutdown last week was therefore to to allow contractors undertake critical pipeline interconnections for the bigger project which is expected to be completed in three months.
