Coaltar PRESEC Cry For Help as Both Males and Females Use One Lavatory

Management and students of Kraboa Coaltar Presbyterian Senior High Technical School (PRESEC) have called on government, corporate bodies, past students and individuals to support the development of the school. The school lacks a number of educational facilities, including accommodation for students and teachers, dining hall, potable drinking water and transport, among others. Over the years, the school had not been seen any meaningful development, yet it has been operating as a high school in the area since 1993. As a result of lack of infrastructure, the headmasters bungalow has served as a dormitory for female students for the past year. Peace FMs Eastern Regional correspondent, Michael Akrofi who visited the school observed that, about 700 students (both males and females) are forced to use one lavatory due to the lack of infrastructure. The students have expressed worry at the state of the lavatory and the bathroom which is a health threat; nothing has been done about it all this while. According to the students, trekking long distance to get access to water is even affecting their academic work. In an interview with Mr. Albert Mack Asare Tawiah the headmaster of the school, he said due to the schools inability to develop, some parents have been forced to withdraw their wards from the school; this he believes might collapse the school. He also disclosed that due to lack of accommodation for boarders three classrooms have been transformed into dormitories for about One Hundred and one (101) boys while his bungalow also accommodate about Two Hundred (200) girls, leaving him to live in town. Mr. Asare Tawiah added that the absence of transportation and science laboratory has also been a major problem for the school which was elevated to a boarding school in 2013. He therefore called on the education minister to expedite action on the school development since education is the bedrock for national development.
