"You Can't Inflate Projects By 100% And Ask Us To Pray In Support Of Such Corruption!!!"

I think these are the days of Elijah and I will plead with our pastors to help us pray in the right direction because where they are asking us to pray towards, is not where the problem is. The aspiring National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku says the prayers being offered by various religious bodies in the country concerning the state of the economy is not working because the Mahama-led government has not made up its mind to change. Religious bodies in the country have been interceding on behalf of the nation for God to better the state of the economy. A National Week of fasting, prayer and thanksgiving, organized by the Christian community is scheduled to begin this year for God to help our country. Contributing to panel discussion on Kokrokoo Sammy Awuku feels prayers are being offered in the wrong direction. According to him, while the pastors are praying for the economy, government appointees are engaging in outrageous inflating of various projects and dabbling in other dubious activities. Renovation of Ridge Hospital Parliament has approved a commercial agreement between the government and Messrs Bouygues Bartiment International, for the design, construction, procurement and installation of equipment for the rehabilitation of the Ridge Hospital in Accra. The project, which has already begun, is expected to be completed in 2016, and is being financed with a Government of Ghana mixed credit facility of 250 million US dollars from Exim Bank and the HSBC Bank. Samuel Awuku accused the current NDC administration of inflating the amount to be used for the renovation. He disclosed that while the Dominican Republic has gone in for a similar package and intends constructing an international airport, a hotel and a new hospital, the Mahama-led administration is rather set to spend a whopping $250m on renovating the Ridge Hospital. A 3rd December 2013 article on the Dominica News Online details how "the Roosevelt Skerrit administration is making moves towards the construction of international airport facilities in Dominica. According to the story, "the project is part of a US$300-million deal signed by prime minister Roosevelt Skerrit with Chinese company ASCG when he visited China on November 8, 2013. ASCGs website mentions reconstruction of an international airport among projects to be undertaken under the agreement. Other projects include a hotel to be built in Roseau estimated at US$70-million and construction of a new hospital, according to the website. Sammy Awuku believes if the Dominican Republic is able to spend that amount of money on three important projects, then the current administration is milking the citizenry by excessively increasing the project cost. Consequently he said, pastors cannot ask Ghanaians to pray for the economy because government just keeps doing the wrong things. This governmentthat is why I feel some of the pastors are praying in the wrong directionthe corruption in this administration does not need any spiritual intervention. That is why I agree with Dr. Otabil that we need to plan. The country must have vision and focusYou cant inflate cost of renovation over $142 Millionand then you tell us to pray to support such a cruel act!" he screamed.
